Job DescriptionInova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Critical Care Stepdown Unit. This role will be full-time 3-12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. with weekend & holiday rotations (approximately 5 weekend shifts in a 6-week period + 2 holiday shifts per year). Inova Fairfax Hospital Intermediate Care (IMC) also known as the Medical Critical Care Stepdown Unit (MCCSU) is a 24-bed unit specializing in the care of stable but critically ill patients. Our goal is to provide transition-level care to patients who while stable, still require a high degree of support. The IMC/MCCSU patient population consists of a wide range of both medical and surgical diagnoses including Kidney transplant, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Respiratory Disorders, End of Life Cancer, and Ventilator management with an emphasis on weaning. Assignments are based on patient acuity and staff skill level. The usual nurse/patient ratio is 3:1.Featured Benefits:Committed to Team Member Health: offering medical, dental and vision coverage, and a robust team member wellness program.Retirement: Inova matches the first 5% of eligible contributions - starting on your first day.Tuition and Student Loan Assistance: offering up to $5,250 per year in education assistance and up to $10,000 for student loans.Mental Health Support: offering all Inova team members, their spouses/partners, and their children 25 mental health coaching or therapy sessions, per person, per year, at no cost.Work/Life Balance: offering paid time off, paid parental leave, and flexible work schedulesRegistered Nurse (RN) Medical Critical Care Stepdown Job Responsibilities:Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care.Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.Minimum Qualifications:Education: BSN or AD. If RN has an AD, within 2 years from date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1.) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend 2.) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date 3.) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 4.) Complete BSN within 5 years of start dateExperience: 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, for Critical Care units, 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.Certification: BLS & ACLS from American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse licensePreferred Qualifications:Experience: Intermediate Care, ED, PCU, PACU, and/or Cardiac Telemetry strongly preferred (willing to consider other experience).Other: Good communication skills, professional, team player, takes feedback well, proactive listener.About UsWe are Inova, Northern Virginia's leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
