- Gathers and reviews related patient test reports (i.e. nuclear medicine, cat scans, etc.)
- Performs ultrasound testing; directs ultrasound beams via transducer identifying patient organs and body parts to create diagnostic images which are displayed on an ultrasound monitor; forwards the digital US images to PACS for interpretation by the Radiologists.
- Presents ultrasound test results and significant related patient medical history and any other diagnostic information to the radiologist for review, confers with radiologist regarding interpretation of test results (i.e., assisting and identifying tumors or cysts) answering questions about specific scans (i.e. technique used, equipment settings, angles used, etc
- Performs additional scans and follows special testing instructions as directed by radiologist.
- Performs routine maintenance and calibration on ultrasound equipment; conducts quality control rests and informs superior of the need for adjustments and repairs necessary to preserve or regain operational efficiency of equipment.
