- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW), or master's degree (MA) or doctorate degree (PhD, PsyD or EdD) in psychology, counseling, or other mental health profession; status as a NJ licensed social worker (L.S.W.), a NJ licensed clinical social worker (L.C.S.W.), NJ licensed professional counselor (L.P.C.) or is a certificate/permit holder to practice in psychology; and experience in the field of counseling.
- A Clinician's duties may consist entirely of direct practice with children, adolescents or adults (counseling with individuals, couples or families, assessments, intakes, groups) and may involve work with community education groups and consultation services to other agencies.
- Some responsibility may be delegated by the Executive Director or Clinical Supervisor to the Clinician.
- A beginning Clinician should have knowledge and skill acceptable for performance under regular supervision.
- After two years of clinical practice, it is expected that a Clinician will perform skillfully and achieve recognized responsibility with less supervision and more independence.
