The Senior Financial Regulatory Analyst will support the submission of timely, accurate, and complete regulatory reports, associated audits, and responses to regulatory inquiries, including internal and external ad-hoc requests This Individual Will <ul><li>Be the subject matter expert for multiple assigned state contracts and their impact on financial reporting</li><li>Complete and submit state agency financial reports for multiple assigned Medicaid contracts and ensure agency report submissions are compliant with regulatory requirements</li><li>Ensure accuracy of assigned state agency reports by validating against financial statements and general ledger</li><li>Support audit requests from state agencies, external auditors, and internal audit team by responding to regulatory inquiries and data requests</li><li>Correspond with state agency personnel, external auditors, and controllership team and operations team partners on various requests</li><li>Applicants should understand that this role is not a standard accounting role (no journal entries) and is primarily a financial reporting and data analytics role </li></ul>You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities <ul><li>Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits</li><li>Support the accurate completion of all required financial regulatory reporting within mandated timelines</li><li>Ensure that regulatory financial reports are compliant with regulatory requirements</li><li>Review applicable state Medicaid communications and stay current on multiple state Medicaid financial reporting requirements</li><li>Coordinate the preparation of written responses to routine inquiries and questions received from state Medicaid regulatory agencies related to the financial regulatory reports</li><li>Regularly update management as regulatory reporting requirements change</li><li>Support a wide range of state Medicaid reporting efforts</li><li>Validate and reconcile data received from multiple sources (i.e., claims processing systems, financial data repositories, Microsoft Excel models, general ledger, etc.)</li><li>Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives designed to reduce the number of man hours involved with the filing processes and increase accuracy of reported data</li><li>Work extensively with cross-functional areas (Operations, Actuarial, and Accounting), to gather and analyze financial data needed for regulatory reporting and audits </li></ul>You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree Finance, accounting, business administration, or related field</li><li>3+ years of experience in finance or accounting or related field</li><li>Demonstrated technical and financial understanding of data repositories, contracts, claim system operations, and the resulting manipulation of data into financial regulatory reporting</li><li>Expertise in data analytics, financial analysis and critical thinking (‘outside the box’)</li><li>Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, Word), including ability to analyze and manipulate data in excel including using pivot tables and formulas </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications <ul><li>Experience in preparing financial reporting for regulatory agencies</li><li>Experience with PeopleSoft Financials or other general ledger accounting systems </li><li>Healthcare Insurance experience</li><li>Financial and/or Accounting experience handling regulated entities</li><li>Working knowledge of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles </li></ul>Required Competencies <ul><li>Solid communication skills, both verbal and written</li><li>Comfortable working independently</li><li>Solid analytical skills and attention to detail</li><li>Ability to perform effectively in matrix relationships</li><li>All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy </li></ul>California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $58,300 to $114,300 annually.
