- The PGRU serves as the repository for the national apple germplasm collection as well as collections of hemp, other fruit and vegetable crops.
- Larry Smart's program research is focused on breeding, genetics, genomics, and physiology of willow bioenergy crops, hemp, hop, and other field and specialty crops.
