- The Perinatal Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse assigned to the Perinatal Services Unit, who is responsible for the direct delivery of patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to a specific group of ante partum, laboring and delivering, recovering, and post partum mothers, as well as their newborns.
- The Perinatal Nurse coordinates care in collaboration with the family, significant others, physicians, and other health care providers.
- The perinatal Nurse demonstrates proficiency in advanced nursing skills and correct use of appropriate equipment.
- The LDRP/Perinatal Nurse is cross-oriented and capable of providing nursing care in the well-baby and continuing care nurseries.
