$43,000 - $60,000 a year
Full-time
- This program provides mentoring, coaching, re-entry services, and workforce training at out Eloise's Cooking Pot Food Bank's warehouse, which gives them job experience without the typical stigma and issues that come from having a criminal record and trying to obtain employment.
- Besides working with formerly incarcerated adults, this program also works with at-risk youth during the summer.
- We will continue to provide adult mentoring, self-esteem building, and connection to other needed services, but we will also move into teaching leadership skills and providing entrepreneurship opportunities as it relates to food systems and agriculture.
- Not only will the youth get to engage in nutrition education classes that focus on empowering them to identify and make healthy food choices even when faced with limited options, but they will also gain entrepreneurial skills through the development, marketing, and sale of their own value-added culturally relevant food products.
- The youth will work with partner farmers who are a part of MADF's BIPOC Farmers' HUB to learn growing skills like hydroponics and urban farming methods, as well as how to set up an agricultural micro business.
