The Principal Counsel will work with legal colleagues, business leaders, Employee Relations, and Human Resources professionals to help shape Disney's workplace safety philosophy, policies, and practices. Responsibilities:<ul><li>Utilize expertise, creativity, and judgement to avoid and, when necessary, resolve disputes.</li><li>Compliance with OSHA, CAL/OSHA, and all other federal and state safety regulations.</li><li>Defense and appeal of OSHA and Cal/OSHA citations.</li><li>Conduct or advise others on the conduct of workplace investigations.</li><li>Conduct or advise others on workplace safety audits.</li><li>Illness/injury prevention and other workplace safety-related programs.</li><li>Provide direction on the investigation of certain whistleblower complaints.</li><li>Counsel internal clients on a vast array of workplace safety matters.</li><li>Draft responses to OSHA, Cal/OSHA; WorkSafeBC and similar governmental agency claims and demand letters.</li><li>Supervise the drafting of and revise OSHA, Cal/OSHA, WorkSafeBC and other administrative charge responses and represent the company in administrative proceedings.</li><li>Evaluate current and anticipate future legislative trends in all areas of workplace safety.</li><li>Work with partners across the company to enhance training programs.</li><li>Educate and instill workplace safety principles in our clients during every interaction.</li><li>Inspire and motivate others to be a best-in-class company for workplace safety.</li><li>Expertise in state and federal environmental laws and regulations is a plus. </li></ul>Basic Qualifications:<ul><li>Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department or a combination.</li><li>Concentration in and enthusiasm for workplace safety legal advice and counseling.</li><li>Ability to spot and analyze complex issues and devise practical strategies and solutions.</li><li>Superior written and oral communication skills.</li><li>Superior drafting, negotiating and persuasive skills.</li><li>Superior interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with co-workers at all levels. </li></ul>Required Education:<ul><li>JD or equivalent from an accredited law school</li><li>Membership in the California State Bar in good standing or willingness and qualification to be Registered In-House Counsel</li></ul>Additional Information: The hiring range for this position in California is $205,700 - $266,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
