- The Marine Science Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara, seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantitative Population Ecology and Statistical Modeling to study the interacting effects of extreme weather events, infectious disease, invasive species, and other factors on the site occupancy, abundance, and resilience of amphibian populations in California.
- The Postdoctoral Researcher would work closely with Drs. Cheryl Briggs and Samantha Stevenson at UC Santa Barbara, and Dr. Pieter Johnson at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
- Experience with analysis of complex data sets, Bayesian methods, Geographic Information Systems, spatial statistics, and/or climate data are preferred.
- The overall objective will be to integrate multiple streams of field data through creative statistical approaches to quantify the factors affecting the spatial distribution, abundance, and viability of populations of threatened amphibian species in California.
- Data sources include multiple multi-year time series of amphibian populations, pathogens, invasive species, and other aspects of the freshwater systems, collected from many ponds distributed across a landscape, climate data, and data on the physical properties of the ponds on the landscape.
