- Distinguishing Characteristics: The work of the video production specialist is different from other IT jobs in that it is solely responsible for the programming, recording, editing, and operation of the various channels throughout the City of Kirkland.
- Includes, but is not limited to, working with community partners, programming and assuring the correct operation of the television channels, and working in all phases of single and multi-camera video production including writing, video recording, audio, graphics, post-production, editing, working with interns, volunteers, on-call and other staff.
- Examples include programs such as Disaster Preparedness, Economic Development, Fourth of July Celebration, Emergency Sewer Program and Community Health Program.
- Propose program ideas; work with department to prepare outlines and treatments; write scripts; coordinate content, shooting locations and on-camera talent; act as or direct video and camera crew, log footage; digitize material; build sequences and transitions; mix audio; all utilizing a script software and digital editing system; and conform completed video programs for broadcast, web streaming and DVD distribution.
- Act as producer/director/technical director during live broadcast and live to tape multi-camera shoots; oversee and provide work direction to crew consisting of interns, volunteers, on-camera talent, on-call and MultiMedia staff.
