- Under the direction and oversight of a licensed healthcare professional, the medication aide participates in the delivery of administering routine medications to patients.
- The medication aide, under the direction of a Licensed Practitioner, Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides basic nursing care and assists with activities of daily living to a designated group of healthcare consumers.
- Provides services which encompass the spiritual, physiological, social, and psychological aspects of care of the sick, prevention of disease, or conservation of health.
- Give medications based on the Six Rights – right medication, right dose, right time, right route, right patient and right documentation.
- Observing, monitoring, reporting, and otherwise taking appropriate actions regarding desired effects, side effects, interactions, and contraindications associated with the medication.
