- Conducts a variety of laboratory tests and duties according to established laboratory procedure, and in compliance with Cherokee Nation Policies and Procedures, Rural Health Guidelines and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA '88), and Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA) regulations, while working under the supervision of a Laboratory Supervisor and/or Laboratory Director.
- Collects laboratory specimens such as urine, blood, etc., and ensures these specimens are collected at the proper time and patients have received proper instructions and/or preparation.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and less than one year of specialized training or education related to Medical Laboratory Assistance School or Medical Laboratory CME.
- Must be a Registered Certified Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Assistant, or Phlebotomist Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or American Medical Technologist or equivalent and maintain throughout employment.
- Associate's degree from 2-year college or technical school in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or Microbiology, may be substituted by two years or more of undergraduate college course work.
