- Job Duties/Responsibilities:Under the general supervision of the Director, the Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) assumes the responsibility for performing venipunctures, capillary blood specimen collections, point of care testing (POCT), and related procedures under the philosophy, policies and procedures established by the hospital and the Department of Laboratory Services.

- Minimum Education: High school education with phlebotomy training is preferred; Two years of college education preferred.
- Enrolled in an Accredited Medical Lab Technician Program and/or equivalent experience or courses.
- Ability to understand the overall technology, operation, and troubleshooting of moderate and complex instrumentation (example: hospital and laboratory information systems, highly automated specimen processing and testing instrumentation);.
