- Plans, manages, coordinates and supervises the activities of a section (s) of the clinical laboratory, such as Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Service, Microbiology, Histology/Cytology, POCT, Phlebotomy, Processing, Laboratory Information and School(s) of Medical Technology including all shifts and hours.
- Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or equivalent certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required, or certification as a Histotechnologist or Cytotecnologist by a recognized agency preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or Health Related Science field required Specialty certification for the specific laboratory section (s) preferred.
- Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with pathologists, laboratory manager, co-workers, nurses, clinicians and the units to ensure the quality of the laboratory testing and optimum performance of department.
- Ability to interact on a daily basis with laboratory clerical staff, other department staff, outside billing and insurance agencies, coroners, funeral home personnel, department coordinators, department director, medical staff and physician office staff.
