- Description NREL is seeking multiple Group Managers in the Chemistry and Nanoscience and Materials Science Centers within the Materials Chemistry and Computational Sciences Directorate to lead a number of research groups principally focused on chemistry, materials, process science, separations science, photovoltaics, electrochemical and chemical storage, low power electronics, and other concepts related to clean energy technologies.
- Our centers utilize multiple research methods, including wet-chemical synthesis, electrochemical and photo-electrochemical characterization, vapor phase deposition, ultrafast spectroscopies, electrical device characterization, surface science characterization, and advanced microscopy, while making extensive use of state-of-the-art tools that are available at NREL and at National Lab User Facilities.
- The group managers will serve as key contributors to the broader NREL science and technology strategy through strategic interactions throughout the MCCS directorate and with other directorates at NREL. Further, the candidate will provide scientific and strategic leadership and mentoring to a group consisting of technical staff of all levels, postdoctoral researchers, and students while advancing and maintaining a safe and secure work environment
- Experience leading and contributing to programs in electrochemical conversion and storage technologies.
- Knowledge of the principles underlying electrochemical conversion technologies, as well as expertise in synthesis and characterization through structural characterization, electrochemical analysis, and spectroscopy.
