- Garfield Park Community Council (GPCC) is part of the Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010.
- Housing Action Corps members receive custom training, support, and networking opportunities in housing and community development, in addition to the traditional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA. Learn more: housingactionil.org/americorps.
- The project will serve the community areas of East and West Garfield Park, two of the most economically and socially distressed communities in Chicago.
- Garfield Park is a primarily and historically an African American community, and the Garfield Park Community Council seeks AmeriCorps members who display a commitment to racial equity and inclusion.
- Member Duties : GPCC currently offers housing counseling, works to reoccupy vacant homes through the Micro Market Recovery Program (MMRP), offers emergency housing support, and owns a 40-unit affordable senior housing building, but these services are not enough to meet the vast affordable housing needs in Chicago’s West Side. The Data and Evaluation Associate will use data management and community engagement to promote, integrate, and expand our housing programs.
