- This position provides leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of an effective educational program to meet the needs of the county population in the following areas of field crops (tobacco, corn, cotton, peanut, small grains and soybeans), commercial vegetable production and pesticide education.
- North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University.
- Pitt County is the economic hub of northeastern North Carolina, home of East Carolina University and the ECU Health Medical Center, and is now considered an urban county.

- The Extension Agent is eligible to become a member of the non-tenure track/special faculty at North Carolina State University.
