- Job SummaryThis position will be responsible for Substation physical conceptual design, scope of work and estimates for Dominion’s Electric Transmission and Electric Distribution Substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV. Primary Responsibilities: Physical design of Electrical Utility Substations for New construction and upgrades.
- Coordinate input from a multi-disciplined project team (substation, system protection, planning, transmission line, distribution, construction, operation, civil/structural, permitting, real estate) and define project scope.
- Create and/or modify Substation physical design drawings for substation projects including the conceptual one-line diagrams and General Arrangements.
- Create project cost estimates using material and labor costing database for the Physical portion of projects.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience Minimum of five years of utility Substations physical design experience Thorough understanding and knowledge of substation components and their functions Firm understanding of the physical design principles and practices for major substation equipment, transmission lines and distribution feeder configurations Ability to read, interpret, and modify one-line diagrams, Substation plan and elevation drawings Some drafting experience preferred.
