- As San Francisco's technology governance and policy making body, the Committee on Information Technology (COIT) provides a forum for City leadership to coordinate and collaborate to make citywide technology decisions.
- Through regular public meetings, COIT also offers the public updates on the state of technology in the City. In addition to managing COIT as a policy body, COIT staff work with departments and policymakers to help transform local government services by supporting modern technologies and the adoption of user-centered design.
- The Director for COIT consults with the City Administrator and City CIO for purposes of developing and implementing strategic policies, initiatives, and performance measurement of IT activities.
- The Director for COIT also interacts with the Mayor's, Board of Supervisors', and Controller’s staff, as well as department heads and department CIOs, for purposes of IT strategic planning, annual IT project prioritization and budgeting, and IT project performance review.
- Oversee the planning, facilitation and execution of COIT monthly meetings and any COIT subcommittee meetings, including ensuring compliance with all city and state open meeting requirements, development and posting of the agenda and meeting materials, facilitation of presentations and development of meeting minutes.
