Responsible for transporting inmates, assigning and supervising work, maintaining security, and preparing forms and reports. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. Position Duties These tasks represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the\class as necessary. Transports inmates from/to jail complex. Receives work assignments; prepares crew assignment sheets and assigns work. Plans, estimates, and supervises projects such as building minor facilities and structures. Supervises and controls inmate workers; monitors for difficulties and intervenes if necessary. Maintains security at all times; assures inmates are following rules and procedures; assures all inmates are accounted for and contained in appropriate area. Operates equipment such as tractors, mowers & ATVs; performs minor maintenance such as cleaning or fueling. Prepares forms, logs, and reports documenting crew activities. Attends meeting to exchange information; attends in-service training.
