- The purpose of this classification is to perform technical tasks as a lead member of a crew on an assigned shift performing various maintenance, sanitation, landscape, and litter removal tasks in support of the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Alexandria.
- Plans, organizes, trains and provides instruction and guidance as a lead member of a crew performing various maintenance, sanitation, landscape, and litter removal tasks in support of the Parks and Recreation Department on an assigned shift.
- Prepares and processes paperwork and reports as required by department policy and procedure; maintains files and employee records as required; reviews zoning maps and other documents to complete assigned tasks.
- Oversees and participates in various sanitation and cleaning tasks to maintain City parks and facilities; removes trash; cleans restrooms; performs routine landscape and mowing tasks; applies grass seed and fertilizer; repairs playground equipment; sprays chemicals as directed.
