- When a child is admitted to a psychiatric hospital there are many services that must be coordinated quickly in order to ensure the child's needs are met during hospitalization and to assist with transitioning the child to a least restrictive placement with the necessary supports in place to support long term stability.
- During these visits the caseworker will meet with the child, the clinical staff, the social worker, and the doctor (if available) to assess child safety and to discuss the child's progress, level of acuity, and recommendations for next placement setting.
- Gathers records from hospital staff, CPS staff, and other resources, Reviews them, updates placement paperwork, and sends documents with referrals as needed.
- General knowledge of the Child Protective Conservatorship and Services Programs, and mental health prevention and treatment among child welfare involved children and family members.
- Experience as a Child Protective Services Specialist III: Employed as a Child Protective Specialist for 18 months AND have received Child Protective Specialist Certification OR currently employed as a Child Protective Specialist III in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services OR previously employed as a Child Protective Services Specialist III in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services or Experience as a Child Protective Services Special Investigator.
