- The 425‐acre campus is a designated arboretum, complete with gardens, rolling lawns, a creek, wooded hills, and hiking trails in the Crum Woods.
- The department endeavors to provide a prompt, professional presence while also instilling personal responsibility and accountability for the rules and regulations of the College and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- The Community Resource Officer (CRO) Patrol/Communication is responsible for the safety and well-being of Swarthmore College students, campus property, community members, and visitors.
- Officers will dispatch internal communications from the monitoring of CCTV, Access Control, from both fire and intrusion alarms, as well as key control of organizations’ keys for campus use.
- Public Safety will also provide ongoing training in a variety of areas, such as CPR/First Aid/AED, Stop the Bleed, De-escalation, and Mental Health First Aid. In addition, successful candidates will receive communication training through APCO and Private Security Officer training under PA Act 235.
