Through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, the college provides an outlet for innovation and cross-disciplinary exposure. It also features pre-professional degrees in biology, microbiology alongside our degrees in chemistry, physics, environmental science, forensic science, and exercise science program and etc. This is a face-to-face part time opportunity. MUST be available to come to the main campus. This position is a part-time Teaching Assistant position. Qualifications for the Undergraduate Teaching Assistant: You are required to be a current GCU student. No completed degree is required. <ul><li>You cannot be a current GCU or GCE employee/student worker or hired for other hourly GCU positions.</li><li>You are required to assist on Main Campus (in-person). Must be in Arizona.</li><li>Must have completed sufficient coursework as well as having received a grade of B or higher in these courses.</li></ul> Experience/Education: Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment: <ul><li>You are required to be a current GCU student and enrolled in a Bachelor's program. No completed degree is required.</li><li>Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.</li><li>Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.</li></ul> You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements. Work performed is primarily inside, subject to variations in temperature and weather, equipment noise and dust.</li></ul> Responsibilities as Undergraduate Teaching Assistant: <ul><li>Keep in communication with your assigned instructor on a regular basis.</li><li>Stay updated and prepared for the classroom agenda and material.</li><li>Attend and be ready to assist your instructor in every class.</li><li>May help with course material prep, grading and lecturing.</li><li>Hold office hours (minimum 3-4 hours; this counts toward the max of 10 hrs/week) to answer student questions and tutor them</li><li>Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.</li><li>Assists instruction with in-class activities, including proctoring examinations.</li><li>Observes students' performance, and records relevant data to aid instructor in assessing progress</li><li>Coordinates study groups outside of class to tutor students on class material</li><li>May facilitate additional ad hoc lectures as a refresher to classroom formal lecture</li><li>Assists with grading assignments</li><li>Proctors occasional make up examinations/assignments</li><li>Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.</li></ul>
