- The Office of Legislation and Governmental Affairs strengthens public safety and emergency preparedness through collaboration with stakeholders to develop, manage, and implement Cal OES’s legislative, public safety policy, tribal affairs, international affairs, and executive programs.
- The Assistant Director, Office of Legislation and Governmental Affairs oversees the development and integration of department-wide policies, planning efforts, and programs to better coordinate the department's prevention, protection, response, and recovery missions.
- The Assistant Director will craft strategies, plans, and guidelines to effectively build programs that support Cal OES’s priorities, as well as identify programs and issues at the national, state, and local levels that have immediate or long-term interest or concern to Cal OES. In addition, the Assistant Director will support the Deputy Director in the development of policy and initiatives pertaining to public safety and emergency preparedness.
- Advise the Deputy Director on policies and programs on public safety and emergency management.
