- Under the direction of an assigned Supervisor and/or Journey-Level Mechanic, incumbents will perform apprentice-level work assisting Technicians in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of compressed natural gas (CNG) and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
- An employee will be formally enrolled in the Coach Heavy Duty Mechanic program.
- Continued enrollment and employment are subject to attending Related Supplemental Instruction (RSI) without compensation and maintaining the progress standards set by the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee.
- Assist with the repairs, adjustments, or replacements of integral parts of natural gas, diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drive trains and differentials, and lubrication, cooling, exhaust after treatment, and air or hydraulic systems.
- Learn the principles of diesel-powered engines; compressed natural gas (CNG) powered , hybrid and electric vehicles.
