- The Advocacy Program Director oversees Cal Voices’ statewide behavioral health advocacy program (ACCESS California), which represents the interests and concerns of service recipients (Clients) in California’s Public Behavioral Health System (PBHS).
- Program activities include tracking legislation and analyzing public policies; state and local advocacy; training and education; outreach, engagement, and communications; research and data collection; and hosting in-person activities and events.
- Accordingly, the Advocacy Program Director must demonstrate the necessary knowledge, abilities, experience, personal characteristics, and temperament to successfully manage a highly complex project and its staff, including: personal responsibility, motivation, organization, maturity, sound judgment, advanced written and oral communication, digital and technological literacy, emotional intelligence, resilience, and integrity.
- Cal Voices is a Peer-run, grassroots behavioral health advocacy agency.
- Qualified individuals who have participated in public behavioral health services in any California county, are bilingual/bicultural, and/or identify as members of traditionally underserved populations (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, veterans, immigrants, refugees, former foster youth, previously unhoused, past involvement with the criminal legal system, etc.)
