- Summary: The Physical Therapist Assistant provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, using physical therapy modalities and procedures as ordered by the patient's physician.
- Education, Training and Licenses Required: The Physical Therapist Assistant must be a graduate of a CAPTE (Commission on Accreditation and Physical Therapy Education) accredited school/college/institution Possess current California licensure Current BLS certification Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
- Two years’ experience in an acute care facility or outpatient clinic is preferred.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: The Physical Therapist Assistant must possess sufficient knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and mobility in health and disease combined with standard rehabilitation practice to provide safe, effective assessment and treatment as directed by the Physical Therapist to patients of all ages and developmental stages.
- Equipment Knowledge Required: The PTA will demonstrate competency in theory and practical use of all electrical, thermal, and mechanical equipment used in this department.
