- Directs the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of the business service activities; ensures that clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized; provides general oversight for Hospital clinic and physician office functions that contribute to the billing, collection, and reporting of patient service revenue.
- Familiar with the principles and practices of patient accounting, insurance reimbursement, coding, governmental and other payer source billing, credit and collections, cashiering and admitting; knowledge of functions, capabilities and operation of computer-based registration, billing and patient accounts management systems;
- Ability to effectively communicate when in contact with insurance carriers, third party payer, and patients; knowledge of federal, state, and local government payers (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid) and other commercial health plan billing and collection policies and processes; knowledge of healthcare industry payer trends and statistics;
- Ability to learn and understand hospital patient accounting policies and procedures and how the Accounts Receivable computer system works; must be able to maintain an accurate account of billing and A/R reconciliation activity on all assigned accounts; must be able to train others on customer service and collections procedures.
- Demonstrated patient accounting knowledge and skills; proficient with Excel spreadsheets and other Microsoft Office programs; exhibit excellent customer service and communication skills.
