The Staten Island – Counseling Service YMCA is seeking a Counselor - CASAC-T/CASAC Level who will be responsible for providing care to a designated caseload, including provision of direct individual, group and family sessions, coordination of specialized program services, and case management of caseload.

Reports to Director, Deputy Director or Senior Assistant Director of problems identified in resident's care or overall healthcare and well-being. Permission for pre-employment checks of drug screening, criminal background, Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI), and the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.

Other paid leave includes military leave, jury duty leave, bereavement leave, voting and election official leave for federal, state or local primary and general elections, care of a family member leave (available after 90 days of employment); and childbirth and parental leave (available after 90 days of employment.

CPS borough offices consist of a number of child protective service units which conduct highly sensitive investigations into alleged reports of child abuse and or neglect; administers programs designed to assess the needs of families and the provision of services such as intensive preventive services or foster care placement outside the home.

Knowledgeable about local social services and have experience with family preservation, working with immigrant populations, kinship care, and/or child welfare. Assess for safety on an ongoing basis and report any concerns in accordance with mandatory reporting laws, State licensing requirements, and Federal laws and regulations for reporting to local child protective agencies and/or law enforcement.

Such services may include: Acute Medical Care; Primary Medical Care; Preventative medical care services (including metabolic screening); Home Health Care; Chemical Dependency Services; Behavioral Health Services; Community social support services; Housing; State and federal entitlements; Educational services; Involvement with child welfare, juvenile justice or criminal justice institutions.

Report child/adult abuse cases to the appropriate agencies and the Hospital Social Worker.
