Senior Mechanical Engineer – Advanced Instrumentation (W2 only role)Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced instrumentation systems. This is a hands-on role focused on building innovative electro-mechanical, fluidic, pneumatic, and thermal solutions to ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability of next-generation platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical sub-systems (electro-mechanical, thermal, pneumatic, fluidic)Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, systems, and materials teamsDevelop mechanisms for automated loading, sealing, and system reliabilityDesign and integrate thermal control systems (heating/cooling, sensors, heat management)Support system integration, testing, and troubleshootingLead design reviews and resolve technical trade-offsCreate and maintain CAD models, drawings, and technical documentationDrive timelines and deliverables for assigned sub-systemsPresent technical progress and recommendations to stakeholdersRequired QualificationsDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field:Hands-on experience with mechanical, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic systemsStrong expertise in thermal management and temperature control systemsExperience with fluidics systems (pumps, valves, tubing, sensors)Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks)Experience designing for manufacturing (machining, injection molding, 3D printing)Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware systemsExperience with life science or diagnostic instrumentationFamiliarity with prototyping tools (3D printing, CNC, lab equipment)Basic scripting or automation experience (Python, LabVIEW, or similar)Experience with simulation tools (CFD, FEA)Background in genomics or sequencing platformsExperience in regulated environmentsStrong communication and organizational skills
