This is why we have an air-conditioned, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility, an on-site café, an employee arcade and more!!Who We Are Looking For:We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Manual Lathe Operator for our Global Headquarters in Chesterfield, MO. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform duties required to set up manual lathe and inspect parts.What you would be doing:Perform set up manual lathe, such as: collect required tools, install tools into holders, locate and indicate chuck or install collect, etc. Use hand tools, blueprint, process sheets, etc. Operate manual lathe: load material into chuck or collect, machine parts, such as: c'drill, drill, rough and finish bore, rough and finish turn, chamfer, tap, thread, face, knurl, part off, etc. Unload and deburr partInspect parts with micrometers, hole test gauges, calipers, thread and plug gauges, indicators, telescoping depth gauges, etc. Hold tolerances on diameters and concentricity per printComplete quality checks as requiredUse arbor press to install bearings and surface and wheel grinders to make special tools and to sharpen toolsCollaborate with Foreman and industrial engineers to verify and/or change shop routers and process sheets to facilitate manufacture of partsAssist engineering department by machining prototype parts and evaluate machinability of parts. Check and maintain oil and coolant levels, clean out chip pan, clean and oil ways, etc. What you should bring:2+ years experience as a Manual Machinist. Extensive Machine shop knowledgeCapable of setting up and operating machine without assistance. Capable of performing proven setups and first part inspections without assistance. Has the ability to improve and implement changes on existing parts and processes. Demonstrates key behaviors with little or no coaching or supervision. Maintain a safe and organized work environment. Fulfill daily 5 S and required PM duties. Complete these on consistent basis. Capable of training other operators at the primary work centerUnderstands team objectives and strives to perform fair share of work. Cooperate with team members and shares helpful information with others. Constantly meets quality expectations with a low scrap rate- subject to review by team leaders based on quality issues within cell or per IRAD reports. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function of the position.
