Electrical Engineer (HH)

Purpose of the positionThe Server Hardware Engineer is responsible for working with the customer to develop Server/Storage Electrical specifications and design, in cooperation with the Program manager, Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Engineer, Signal Integrity Test Group, BIOS, BMC and PCB Layout teams. Other validation teams may also be involved to develop and fully test server products from early development to production phases. Must be a good team-player, capable of working across multiple function teams to ensure successful delivery of products.Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork with cross-functional teams (i.e. EE, BIOS, BMC, PA, SI) to Develop and deliver a successful server product to marketKnowledge of Signal Integrity, eye diagram, transmission line and EMI in theory and in practical applicationKnowledge of Intel server MB, In-depth knowledge of x86 architectureKnowledge of Multi-phase VRM, high speed signal, (USB/SATA/SAS/QPI) and DDR4/DDR3 memoryUse of Cadence OrCAD/HDL and Allegro.Responsible for specification, design, schematics capture, layout check, BOM generation, system-level debug and testDrive resolution of customer reported system issuesEducation and work experienceMS/BS EE or CE with 0-3+ years of experienceExperience performing schematic and layout activities independently, and have experience with PCB CAD design packages - preferably CadenceAbility to perform basic prototype assembly, including fine pitch solderingSolid grasp of the concepts surrounding Design for Manufacture, and EMC mitigation methodsA drive to creatively seek methods for optimizing electronic designs and minimizing costMust be familiar with, and able to operate, a wide range of electronic test equipmentKnowledge of IPC standards and electronics manufacturing methods desirableStrong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to evaluate the long term implications and consequences of potential solutions such as the impact to component life due to electrical or thermal stressAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to contribute ideas and insights into project decisionsStrong verbal and written communication skills required for sharing ideas with other departments and the customerAdditional DetailsOffice-based role, fast-paced work environmentTravel - Approximately 15% including international travel.
