Job DescriptionData EngineerLocation: Los Angeles, CA Remote (Fully remote)Engineering & TechnologyJob SummaryCPI is seeking a Data Engineer to support analytics, reporting, data workflows, and AI-enabled application development. This role requires strong technical problem-solving, hands-on experience with SQL and Python, and the ability to build practical AI-enabled tools and data applications.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain data workflows, pipelines, automations, and application componentsSupport development of AI-enabled tools, prototypes, and applicationsCollaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutionsDesign, monitor, and optimize ETL processes and automation scriptsDevelop and enforce data validation, lineage, quality checks, and documentationBuild and maintain Power BI data models, dashboards, and reportsCreate and maintain documentation of pipeline logic and technical decisionsSupport lightweight user-facing tools and interfacesUse version control, automation, and development best practicesCommunicate progress, blockers, and technical findings to stakeholdersRequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)5+ years of relevant technical experience in data engineering, data analysis, analytics engineering, application development, automation, or business intelligenceProficiency in SQL and PythonExperience building data pipelines, ETL processes, dashboards, and reportsExperience with Power BI or similar business intelligence toolsFamiliarity with AI-enabled tools, generative AI workflows, LLM-based applications, or API-based AI servicesExperience integrating APIs, databases, and structured/semi-structured data sourcesUnderstanding of database management, data modeling, and data quality best practicesDemonstrated use of version control and documentation standardsPreferred QualificationsExposure to front-end technologies (HTML, JavaScript, AngularJS, jQuery)Experience with Airflow, dbt, or similar toolsCloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks)AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect certificationGenerative AI and machine learning experience (RAG, embeddings, vector databases)Energy utility domain knowledgeBenefitsSalary: $120,000-$135,000+ (depending on qualifications and experience)Fully remote work2 weeks paid time offHome equipment allowance (monitors, stand-up desk, etc.)Annual education allowance401(k) with company matchingMedical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance
