About the role:
The Operations team is currently based in Stavanger, Norway. To enhance our support for American customers, we are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer based in the Eastern Time (ET) zone, to cover technical support for the US region. As the first US-based DevOps Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact for our US customers, providing 2nd and 3rd level technical support. Your role will involve addressing customer inquiries, resolving technical issues, and managing the setup and upgrades of customer environments. You will collaborate closely with our Stavanger-based team to ensure seamless operations and deliver exceptional customer service.
In addition it involves both software and systems engineering using principles such as infrastructure as code. The principal tasks will be to improve and update existing systems, build infrastructure and refine working practice through automation.
You will be responsible for improving the lifecycle of services from the start of the design phase through to deployment, and for maintaining the uptime of services by monitoring the availability and system health of our services. You will also be a key part of our drive for continuous improvement by considering the future strategic direction of how infrastructure and services work together in our solution.
Qualifications
BS / MSc degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Good Linux system administration and optimisation knowledge.
Ability to deliver high-quality customer service, with a focus on problem-solving and communication.
Experience working in a customer-facing role, with the ability to translate technical information into clear, understandable language for customers.
Experience with programming and scripting languages.
Experience working with cloud providers, preferably AWS.
Experience with container environments such as Docker and Kubernetes
Experience working with configuration management software
Experience with zero-downtime deployment of web applications.
Interest and skill set in DevOps principles.
Experience with continuous integration and tools.
Experience using relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
