Volunteer: International Social Media Growth and Reach Strategy

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We are a nonprofit operating in Honduras whose donor base and potential volunteers are primarily located in the US, Canada, and Europe. As our in-Honduras following on Facebook and Instagram has grown, both platforms have shifted to distributing our content locally — meaning our international supporters are no longer seeing our posts. We need a skilled volunteer to audit our current accounts and audience data, identify why our reach has shifted, and recommend a concrete strategy to restore visibility with our international audience. Specific tasks would include reviewing our Meta Insights and engagement patterns, advising on content language and posting strategy, and recommending whether geo-targeted boosting, audience segmentation, or separate accounts make sense for our situation. The deliverable we're hoping for is clear, actionable recommendations that we can implement ourselves going forward. We estimate this could be completed in 2–4 sessions.Effective social media is directly tied to our ability to fulfill our mission. Restoring our international visibility will support our work in three concrete ways. (1) It will help us recruit international volunteers, whose skills are essential to our programs in-country in Honduras. (2) It will allow us to make more effective funding appeals to our donor base in North America and Europe, reaching the people most likely to support our work. (3) It will allow us to demonstrate to our supporters and funders that we are responsible stewards of their trust — sharing stories, updates, and outcomes that show their investment at work. At a time when nonprofits are facing increasing pressure and shrinking resources, social media is one of the most cost-effective tools we have. A skilled volunteer who helps us use it well is not just improving our online presence — they are helping us stay sustainable and keep serving our community. We have completed previous Taproot projects, including one focused on CRM management, so we understand the value of a skilled volunteer's time and will come prepared to make the most of it. Our team is committed to being responsive and organized throughout this project. We already actively manage our Facebook and Instagram accounts and have access to our Meta Insights and analytics data, which we can share with the Taproot volunteer. The recommendations produced by our volunteer will be reviewed by our leadership team and implemented directly by the staff member who manages our social media day-to-day. We are looking for practical, actionable guidance we can apply immediately and sustain independently after the project concludes.Honduras Child Alliance Mission: Honduras Child Alliance is a US-registered 501(c)3 that operates in El Porvenir, Atlantida, Honduras to provide community-based educational and healthy living programs for children, teens, and adults. Our grades 1-6 programs focus on literacy in Spanish, computer skills and internet safety, and conversational English. Within our youth leadership program, a cohort of 8 young adults from the community gain professional skills as they are trained to help instruct the programs and operate additional community programs such as pet vaccination events and other services.
