Anesthesia Technician I

Anesthesia Technician IAssists anesthesia providers with patient assessment, monitoring, transporting, positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, and airway management. Maintains and troubleshoots anesthesia equipment malfunctions. Ensures necessary equipment and supply inventory remain in stock. Provides routine and emergency services for anesthesiologists. Assists with schedule preparations, including emergent and urgent surgical procedures involving anesthesia. Assists anesthesia professional staff with preparation and draping of patients for invasive monitoring/procedures and anticipates needs for invasive monitor insertion and procedures. Sets up operating room for cases, including preparation of laryngoscope, intubation equipment, IV solution, tubing set-up, and IV warming devices. Provides peri-operative technical support to the anesthesia professional staff for delivery of patient care. Assists with the procurement, assembly, and operation of specialized equipment such as humidification units, fiber optic endoscopic equipment, rapid infusion devices/blood warmers, patient warming devices, neuromuscular devices, infusion pumps, and syringes. Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, supplies, and personnel to facilitate department functions and ensure efficient flow of cases. Cleans and sets up anesthesia equipment. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionalsKnowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industryKnowledge and basic skills related to aseptic/ sterile technique and sterility of suppliesMust be able to read, write and speak conversational EnglishBasic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft OfficeAbility to appropriately monitor dosages and use clinical equipmentEducation:High School Grad or EquivAssociateTechnical/Vocational SchoolField of Study:Completion of an Anesthesia Technologytraining programWork Experience:1+ experience as an anesthesia techAdditional Information:An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the stated degree requirement: -Completion of an Anesthesia Technology training program OR - 1+ year experience as an anesthesia techLicenses and Certifications:Basic Life Support CPR Cert (BLS)Anesthesia Technician Certification (AT) OR Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.
