Litigation Paralegal
Position SummarySeeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Civil/Subrogation Paralegal to support attorneys in civil litigation matters with a focus on subrogation claims and civil defense. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, strong writing skills, case management skills, experience in insurance-related recovery matters, and the ability to manage files from intake through resolution. The candidate is expected to navigate through the various courts throughout the state.Key ResponsibilitiesCase ManagementOpen, organize, and maintain civil litigation and subrogation filesReview insurance policies, claims files, and supporting documentationDraft correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement demandsMonitor deadlines and maintain litigation calendars Subrogation SupportAnalyze liability and damages in property, auto, and/or workers' compensation subrogation mattersCommunicate with insurance carriers, adjusters, and opposing counselPrepare and track medical treatment and medical billing Litigation SupportDraft complaints, answers, motions, and propound/respond to discoveryPrepare subpoenas and coordinate service of processAssist with deposition preparationSupport attorneys in trial preparation including trial notebooksFile documents with state and federal courts (including e-filing systems)Summarize discovery responses Administrative & Client SupportMaintain regular communication with clients and carriersTrack recoveries and assist with disbursement documentationCoordinate conferences with clients to respond to written discovery and obtain required information QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree preferredParalegal certificate required3+ years of civil litigation and/or subrogation experienceKnowledge of court rules and filing proceduresStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and case management softwareExperience with e-filing systems (state and federal courts) Preferred ExperienceInsurance defense or plaintiff-side subrogationWorkers' compensation lien recoveryProperty damage or auto subrogation claimsABOUT USMichael Sullivan & Associates LLP is a cutting-edge law firm that provides high-quality litigation defense for the Workers' Compensation industry.
