Field Service Technician
Job PurposeThe Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Envent's products and systems at customer locations as well as in the service shop. This role requires technical expertise in process instrumentation, mechanical systems, and electrical components. The Field Service Technician will work closely with customers, internal technical teams, and sales representatives to ensure efficient service execution, customer satisfaction, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.This position requires frequent travel to customer sites, often in industrial or hazardous environments, and the ability to resolve technical issues in a timely manner while upholding Envent’s service standards.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesInstallation, Maintenance, and Repair of Gas Chromatographs and Sample Conditioning SystemsPerform installation, commissioning, and configuration of Envent’s equipment at client sites.Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of instruments and systems to ensure optimal performance.Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, working with engineering and technical support teams as needed.Ensure all service work meets quality and safety standards.Product Knowledge and Technical ExpertiseDevelop an in-depth understanding of Envent Engineering’s product portfolio and its applications within process gas industries.Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, resolving product or system issues efficiently.Train customers on equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.Provide technical support and product demonstrations to potential and existing clients.Customer Service OrientationAssist Clients, vendors, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.Maintain strong relationships with customers to promote long-term service agreements and product loyalty.Documentation and ReportingAccurately document service activities, including maintenance logs, repair reports, and parts usage.Provide detailed technical reports on issues encountered and actions taken.Submit service tickets and updates using the company’s ERP and service tracking systems.Ensure workflow processes relating to inside sales are adhered to (and continually improved).Collaborate with Sales and Project Management teams to enhance the post-sale experience and maximize lifetime customer value.Compliance and SafetyEnsure adherence to Envent’s Business Process Operations System (BPOS) and corporate policies.Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards when performing work.Conduct site risk assessments and ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.Participate in toolbox meetings, safety training, and continuous improvement initiatives related to service operations.Collaboration & Continuous ImprovementWork closely with the engineering and product development teams to relay customer feedback and field insights.Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains in service operations.Assist in developing service manuals, troubleshooting guides, and technical documentation.QualificationsTechnical diploma or degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field.2+ years of experience in field service, industrial equipment maintenance, or related technical support roles.Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.Proficiency in diagnostic tools, calibration instruments, and software-based troubleshooting.Strong customer service and communication skills.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.Ability and willingness to travel frequently (up to 50%) to customer sites, including overnight stays.Ability to legally work in the United States.Working conditionsWork performed in various environments, including industrial sites, manufacturing plants, and remote locations.Exposure to heat, cold, noise, and potentially hazardous materials.Travel up to 36 weeks per year.May require working at heights or in confined spaces.Must be comfortable with frequent travel and occasional extended work hours.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and bend for extended periods.Requires manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment.Compensation$80,000 per year salary, less applicable deductions, paid bi-monthly.Health & dental insurance (premiums 100% paid by company).3 weeks' paid vacation.401K match of 50% on the first 6% of employee contribution.Use of company vehicle, travel expenses, fuel card.Company-provided laptop and cell phone.
