The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) of the Operating Room supports the Nurse Manager in the clinical and operational leadership of the Operating Room. This role assists with daily operations, staff supervision, patient safety initiatives, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance to ensure the delivery of high-quality perioperative care. The ANM serves as a clinical leader and resource for perioperative staff while helping drive efficiency, professional practice, and a culture of safety.Enhanced sign on and relocation bonus of up to $22,500 available for this role.How you grow, learn and thrive matters here.• Educational and career development options, including tuition and certification reimbursement, scholarship opportunities• Staff Safety (a wearable badge that allows nurses to quickly and discreetly call for help when safety is a concern)• Differentials for night/weekend shifts, higher education, certifications and various lead roles (for eligible positions)• Malpractice liability insurance• Loan forgiveness through the New Mexico Higher Education Department • EPIC electronic charting system Type of Opportunity: Full time FTE: 1.00 Job Exempt: Yes Work Shift: Varied Days and Hours (United States of America) Responsibilities:Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Operational LeadershipAssist in overseeing daily OR operations, including staffing, patient flow, room utilization, and schedule coordination.Provide clinical leadership and support to perioperative staff, including RNs, scrub techs, and support personnel.Serve as a resource and escalation point for clinical issues, workflow challenges, and patient safety concerns.Assume Nurse Manager responsibilities in their absence, as assigned.Staff Support & DevelopmentSupport onboarding, orientation, and competency validation for new and existing staff.Participate in performance management, coaching, and progressive discipline in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.Encourage professional development, staff engagement, and adherence to perioperative best practices (AORN standards).Quality, Safety & CompliancePromote a culture of patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory readiness.Monitor compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission).Assist with audits, investigations, and implementation of corrective action plans.Support initiatives related to surgical site infection prevention, time-outs, and safe surgery protocols.Collaboration & CommunicationPartner with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing leadership, supply chain, and sterile processing to ensure seamless surgical services.Participate in process improvement initiatives related to efficiency, throughput, and patient experience.Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.Qualifications:Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required (NM RN or out of state compact RN).Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).Minimum of 3 years of recent Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience preferredDemonstrated leadership or charge nurse experience in the OR preferred.Strong knowledge of perioperative standards, workflows, and equipment preferred.Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.CNOR or other relevant perioperative certification preferredPrevious experience in a supervisory or assistant management role preferredExperience in a multi-specialty or high-acuity surgical environment preferred.We're all about well-being, starting with yours.Presbyterian employees have access to a fun, engaging and unique wellness program, including free on-site and community-based gyms, nutrition coaching and classes, mindfulness and meditation resources, wellness challenges and more.Learn more about our employee benefits.About Presbyterian Healthcare ServicesPresbyterian exists to improve the health of patients, members, and the communities we serve.
