Electrical Engineer Proficient (5-7 yrs)
Job Summary:The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and installing electrical subsystems on small robots and ground-based vehicles. This role involves coordinating design and installation activities under the direction of senior electrical and/or mechanical engineers.Responsibilities include designing electrical topology for Drive-By-Wire systems (defining components, placement, and connectivity), harness design, and pin mapping (similar to reverse engineering). The role also includes building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electrical wiring systems while applying principles of electronics, circuitry, and electrical testing.Additional troubleshooting responsibilities include analyzing serial bus communications (e.g., CAN signals and data). The role may also involve programming electronic modules, developing, building, testing, and modifying electronic components and systems. Work is performed under general supervision with increasing independence as proficiency is demonstrated.Key Responsibilities:Design electrical system diagrams, including wiring harnessesCollaborate with engineers on harness routing and electronic module placementProgram embedded modules using logical/visual programming languagesAssemble and test experimental wiring harnesses, electronic modules, and related componentsTroubleshoot electrical prototypes and correct functional issuesDiagnose electrical/mechanical failures and implement corrective/preventive actionsWork from wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for installation and modificationRepair or replace defective circuitry using hand tools and soldering equipmentTest electronic units using standard test equipment and analyze performance resultsPerform periodic electrical testing and recommend equipment improvements or replacementsSupport preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment and systemsStay updated on industry tools, technologies, and best practices through training and researchMandatory Skills:5–7 years of experience in electronics systems integration and troubleshootingHands-on experience with test equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeter, etc.)Strong understanding of electrical circuitry, electronics principles, and system diagnosticsExperience working with wiring diagrams, harness design, and system installation"All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran."
