ResponsibilitiesJob Summary: A Cake Decorator Expert, you'll apply a mastery of skills in a specialized area, and maintain quality of products. You'll rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals, serve as a resource to others to resolve complex issues, and train future Cake Decorators.Customer ServiceKey Responsibilities & Essential Functions:Assists customers with bakery products and purchasesUses suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and to build department salesProductionMasters all specialty cakes, sculpture cakes, signature cakes, and H-E-B wedding cakesHandles and masters custom orders by requestReads / executes daily production list through cake flowProperly tops / finishes all cake goods to create a fresh and appetizing presentationMaintains product integrity through proper handling of productEnsures quality control of all products before sending to sales floorEnsures cake product reaches the showcase and tables at the prescribed timesTrains future Cake decoratorsPerforms Cake Decorator dutiesFood ServiceOrganizes back storage room, freezer, walk-in, DSD inventory, wrap, supplies and production areaAssists with inventory control, including loading, unloading, moving, and storing productsFood SafetyMaintains sanitation in work areaComplies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standardsEnsures all products comply with H-E-B code dating policyEnsures productivity standards are met without compromising product qualityEnsures potentially hazardous foods are maintained under appropriate temperaturesThe responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Employees may be required to perform other job-related tasks as requested by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodations.Work ExperienceQualifications & Key Requirements:3+ years of experience in Bakery specialization - Preferred6+ months experience in cake decorating - RequiredKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesWorking knowledge of the use of cake decorating equipment, mixes, icings, ingredients, etc. - RequiredKnowledge of H-E-B systems - RequiredStrong customer service skills - RequiredCommunication and interpersonal skills - RequiredReading and writing Skills - RequiredAbility to work in / keep up with fast-paced production level - RequiredEducationLicenses/Certifications:Cake Works 1, 2, and 3 training; wedding cake certification - RequiredCompletion of food sanitation and safety training, eCommerce Online Ordering training, and other assigned e-learning modules - RequiredPhysical Demands & Working ConditionsFunction in a fast-paced, retail environment, in detailed and precise tasksWork with Customers, staying attentive to their needsConstantly stand, reach at waist, graspOccasionally walk, reach at overhead, reach at shoulder, reach at knee, reach at floor, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, pivot, twist, arm push / pull, pinch, utilize fine motor skillsOccasionally be exposed to wet, cold, hot conditions, and loud noiseDemonstrate the ability to lift up to 40 lbsDemonstrate the ability to manage in excess of 25 lbsWhile there may be exceptions, the measurements noted are generally defined as--Constantly: 5.5+ hours per 8-hour day; Frequently: 2.5 - 5.5 hours per 8-hour day; Occasionally: 0 - 2.5 hours per 8-hour dayIt is Partners' responsibility to never lift beyond their own safe lifting limit.
