Supplemental Full-time Learning Support Teacher (2026-2027 School Year)

This position will begin at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our district. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and the ability to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. This role requires collaboration with parents, staff, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that foster academic and social growth for students with disabilities.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.Assess students' progress and adapt instructional strategies to meet their educational goals.Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social skills as outlined in IEPs.Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation, providing regular updates to parents and guardians.Create and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.Utilize various teaching methods and resources to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities within the school and community.Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to support students' needs beyond the classroom.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, families, and colleagues.Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support and empower students with diverse needs.Ability to adapt lessons and teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing IEP documentation and student assessments.Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning in the field of special education.
