Medical Laboratory Technician Location: Yuma, CO Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,038 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 6/8/2026 About the Position Job Title: Medical Technologist Profession: Medical Laboratory Specialty: Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift - 8 Days On, 6 Days Off Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Certified/Registered with ASCP, NCA, NEW or equivalent registry Certifications: Phlebotomy experience required Must-Have: Excellent verbal and written skills in English; Computer skills; Bilingual a plus Description: The Medical Technologist coordinates testing procedures and clinical data with medical staff for the Laboratory Department. The role requires integration of current scientific knowledge with technical competency in the laboratory. Demonstrates knowledge and responsibility by participating in the implementation of safety, chemical hygiene, and infectious/exposure control plans. Also involved in electrical safety, disaster planning, fire safety, and compliance and ethics policies. The ability to perform EKGs, phlebotomies, therapeutic phlebotomies, and arterial and capillary collections for specimen procurement is essential. Knowledge of age-related techniques and physical requirements for blood procurement is required. The Medical Technologist clarifies physician's orders and answers questions regarding orders, specimens, and results. Maintaining standards in routine, timed, and STAT testing is necessary, along with the ability to set priorities. Weekend and daily on-call hours will be shared with other staff technologists. The role assists in training and orienting new employees. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, while supporting workplace safety, is crucial. Additionally, the position requires preparation and monitoring of quality control charts, instrument function checks, and maintenance protocols. The Medical Technologist uses quality assurance tools to recognize and report any hazards. Competency in the knowledge of delivering patient care in a safe environment is important to reduce the likelihood of errors. It is essential to understand the needs of others in relation to laboratory operations while using good judgment. Following proper procedures when laboratory equipment malfunctions and ensuring continuity of care is key. The role involves correlating results, questioning incompatible results, and demonstrating broad knowledge across all laboratory departments. Preventive maintenance must be documented, and the identification and reporting of medical errors are critical. Protecting the patient in the event of an error and assisting in error resolution as appropriate are responsibilities of the position.
