This is a key leadership role — the second-in-command within the department — responsible for supporting the QA Manager in overseeing all aspects of food safety, product quality, regulatory compliance, and supplier verification. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in food manufacturing quality systems and thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.Key Responsibilities:Quality Assurance & Food SafetyAssist the QA Manager in overseeing day-to-day quality assurance operations across all product lines including spices, herbs, blends, and co-packed goodsEnforce compliance with HACCP, SQF, GMP, Kosher, and all applicable federal and state food safety regulationsMonitor and document microbiological and chemical testing of incoming ingredients and finished productsConduct internal audits and inspections to ensure continued adherence to food safety standardsAct as QA Manager designee in their absence, providing leadership and decision-making authority for the departmentSupplier & Vendor ManagementSupport the vendor approval and ongoing verification program, including review of Certificates of Analysis, product specs, and Kosher certificatesEvaluate and qualify new suppliers in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirementsMaintain accurate records of supplier compliance documentation and annual review statusDocumentation & ComplianceMaintain and update QA records, SOPs, HACCP plans, and regulatory documentationPrepare and respond to customer requests for Product Specifications, Certificates of Analysis, and quality documentationEnsure traceability records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready at all timesSupport third-party audits (SQF, Kosher, customer audits) and help implement corrective actionsTeam & Cross-Functional CollaborationSupervise and mentor QA team members, providing guidance and performance feedbackCollaborate with production, R&D, and procurement teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvementLead investigations into non-conformances, customer complaints, and product holds; oversee root cause analysis and CAPA processesQualifications:Required3–6 years of experience in quality assurance or food safety within a food manufacturing environmentStrong working knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMP, and FDA food safety regulationsExperience with microbiological and chemical testing proceduresDemonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and develop a teamExcellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation practicesStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related fieldHACCP certification (PCQI or equivalent)SQF Practitioner certificationExperience in spice, herb, seasoning, or dry ingredient processingFamiliarity with co-packing and private label operationsBilingual (English/Spanish) a plusCompensation & Benefits:De Silva Brothers & Company offers competitive compensation and a supportive work environment.
