Records observations and measurements and reports results. Provides technical support for research activities. Work with other undergraduate and graduate students engaged in research.This position is considered limited-term staff since it utilizes contingent funding, which is currently secured through July 31, 2026 Employment thereafter will be conditional based on the continued availability of funding. ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Engages in research activities such as designing and performing experiments and recording and analyzing data Assists in the preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts May assist in other research projects May work in collaboration with other undergraduate and graduate researchers Assists with laboratory maintenance, equipment cleaning, and ordering suppliesRequired QualificationsEducational RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentRequired ExperienceSome experience conducting research.Preferred QualificationsPreferred Educational QualificationsA current undergraduate student from an accredited institution of higher education in a related fieldPreferred ExperienceSome experience working with chemicals and biochemicals in a laboratorySome experience in writing a laboratory reportExperience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelAbilitiesKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAble to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, meeting assigned deadlinesKNOWLEDGEKnowledge of scientific principles and lab safetySkillsExcellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skillsProficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)Strong attention to detail and follow-up skillsStrong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquetteUSG Core ValuesThe University System of Georgia is comprised of our 25 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
