Structural Engineer - Tampa or Orlando

ELEMENT Engineering Group is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our growing transportation structures team in either our Tampa or Orlando offices. This individual will support the design and delivery of a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects throughout Florida, including minor concrete bridge, bridge rehabilitation, traffic signal structures, overhead sign structures, retaining walls, box culverts, and boardwalks. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and experienced working within FDOT standards and procedures. This role includes design production, technical oversight, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring emerging professionals. We are seeking professionals who value quality, teamwork, accountability, and practical problem-solving.Roles and ResponsibilitiesPerform structural analysis and design for transportation infrastructure projectsPrepare and oversee plans, calculations, specifications, and supporting documentationDesign miscellaneous transportation structures, including mast arms, overhead sign structures, strain pole systems for signals and overhead signs, custom drainage structures, boardwalks, foundations, and box culvertsSupport bridge and box culvert rehabilitation and repair design projectsCoordinate with roadway, drainage, traffic, utility, geotechnical, and survey teams throughout project developmentConduct field reviews and assist with structural assessments as neededPerform quality control reviews to help maintain accuracy and consistency in deliverablesTrain and mentor junior engineering staffCommunicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project stakeholdersSupport project management activities, including schedule coordination and technical oversightAssist with business development and marketing pursuits when neededMinimum RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Civil EngineeringMaster’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in StructuresProfessional Engineer (PE) license in the State of FloridaMinimum of two years of post-PE structural engineering experienceExperience designing transportation-related structures, including traffic signal structures, overhead sign structures, retaining walls, bridge culverts, and bridge rehabilitation projectsFamiliarity with FDOT structures design criteria, manuals, and standardsExperience supervising or mentoring engineering staffStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to coordinate effectively with clients, subconsultants, and internal teamsStrong working knowledge of MicroStation, OpenBridge Modeler, and related structural design software (ATLAS and Mathcad)Preferred RequirementsExperience serving as Engineer of Record for FDOT projectsExperience performing quality control reviewsPrior experience supporting proposal efforts and client coordinationExperience managing schedules, budgets, and production effortsAbout ELEMENTAt ELEMENT, we serve the communities where we live, work, and play.
