Medical Laboratory Scientist

Sarah Bush Lincoln, a trusted healthcare system for more than 45 years is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist. The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing all procedures related to assigned section and the laboratory in general. Responsibilities: Assists physicians in bone marrow preparation. Performs proficiency testing for CAP Surveys. Maintains a clean, neat work area and decontaminates area when needed. Collects blood and swab samples from patients when necessary. Participates in continuing education programs. Seeks opportunities to improve department performance and productivity. Inventories supplies and reagents. Performs preventative maintenance on instruments. Performs daily quality control in area assigned and records data. Recognizes problems that adversely affect test results. Performs all testing activity related to that assigned section of the laboratory, including Hematology; Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Bank and Chemistry, using instruments related to that testing. Reports test results to authorized personnel. Provides training for staff in department procedures, quality assurance and instrumentation.
