The supervisor is also responsible for cross-training employees in key positions.Key Duties & Responsibilities:Production & Quality: Maintain and communicate quality, efficiency, and production levels. Report quality concerns and assist in setting guidelines.Employee Relations: Establish high morale, show fairness, consistency, and interest in employee problems (maintaining confidentiality). Enforce corrective actions, conduct weekly production/safety meetings, and communicate between shifts.Operations: Maintain inventory of sheets, inks, and other supplies. Coordinate with Maintenance Superintendent for repairs and preventive maintenance. Keep upper management informed of departmental issues.Compliance & Development: Implement and support company policies, safety programs, and good housekeeping. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Improve career skills through seminars, technical courses, and college courses.Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise all assigned employees, including training, planning work, appraising performance, rewarding/disciplining, conflict resolution, team building, coaching, problem-solving, documentation, and setting a positive example.Education & Experience:Minimum high school diploma or GED.Two years of prior supervisory experience.Preferred: Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.Skills:Language: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence, and speak effectively to groups.Mathematical: Ability to read a tape measure accurately, calculate figures (percentages, measurement, volume, rate), and apply high school math concepts.Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense to written, oral, or graphic instructions, and deal with problems involving concrete variables.Technical: Working knowledge of equipment design/capabilities, cost issues, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (wage/hour, environmental, OSHA, DEQ, EEO).Certificates/Licenses: May require a current Lift Truck Operator License.Physical Demands: Regular standing, walking, talking/hearing. Frequent use of hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling. Occasional sitting. Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required.Work Environment: Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions. Occasional exposure to high places, fumes/airborne particles, vibration.
