Heavy Equipment Mech-Apprent - No Experience Required

SALARY The minimum salary is $18.286 per hour This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable. Pay Grade 512 This position is eligible for Hazardous Duty Supplemental Pay ($90/month, $0.52c/hour) and CDL pay ($1.08/hour) once obtained within the required first six (6) months of employment. FILING DEADLINE DATE The deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 26, 2026 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The purpose of this classification is to assist heavy equipment technicians perform repairs and maintenance of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government's diverse fleet of heavy equipment, motor vehicles, and related systems. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High school diploma, GED, or equivalent No experience required ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS With guidance from Heavy Equipment Technician Conducts preventative maintenance on trucks as needed to keep them in proper working condition Changes tires and repairs tires as damage occurs on various vehicles Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair problems that occur on heavy equipment Maintains a clean working environment and cleans the heavy equipment as needed Operates and moves trucks as needed around the facility Receives ongoing training to improve vehicle and equipment repair knowledge, skills and abilities Performs related work as assigned SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION All Certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.
